Please join us for our annual Auction and Picnic on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Garden Council Building, 2166 Virginia Ave., Fort Myers, FL 33901. Admission is free. This is a great opportunity, especially for new members and visitors, to take advantage of a wide variety of trees brought in by vendors from around the state. We also encourage you to bring a dish to share and perhaps show off your culinary skills, but not required!
Here is some information by the Gold Coast Bonsai Society who will be honoring Ed Trout during their show and sale. If you are interested in attending perhaps we could set up a caravan…let us know.

You are invited to a tour of the Bok Tower and surrounding gardens (https://boktowergardens.org/) on February 18, 2017. Please see the attached PDF for details.
The attached PDF is from Kelvin Cooper (kcooper@kcpharmaconsulting.site) who is offering an extensive collection of Bonsai trees for sale. Kelvin says: “My wife, Margie, and I are planning to move to Georgia in 2017 and, since the climate is a little colder in the winter, I will be parting with many of my trees! I have put together a brochure of the trees that I would like to sell and have annotated the brochure with “asking prices” that reflect the potential retail value of the trees. Realizing that I am unlikely to get the full retail value, I am open to reasonable offers on the trees and can provide full notes on their history for the time that I have owned them.”
The August meeting main program will highlight judging techniques and what judges look for. From 9 to 10: If you can, bring two trees with you, one to work on from 9 to 10 and a second “finished” tree to discuss during the 11-12 hour. From 10 to 11: Raffle, Show and Tell, Business Meeting. The main program will be from 11 to 12. Learning how to judge a tree. Bring a tree that is “finished” or fully wired and styled. Each member will receive a critique sheet and 5 minutes to score a tree. A discussion of the tree and the judging will follow. We will move through each tree the same way. The purpose is to learn what to look for in a well designed tree and how to improve each tree.
