This month’s Newsletter discusses the events of the last meeting, what’s coming up for our March 15 meeting, and “Martha’s Corner” which talks about the Ilex species. Also included are descriptions of three study groups with Mike Lane, Adam Lavigne and Dorothy Schmitz.
Please join us for our Annual Auction. There will be two types of auction: Silent and Live. You are welcome to participate in both. This is a great opportunity to add to your collection at usually very low prices.
This month’s Newsletter discusses presentations for our next meeting, Feb 15, and has the second offering of “Martha’s Corner” in which she discusses the Chinese Elm. There is also a full Workshop Schedule describing upcoming events for the next few months.
January’s Newsletter briefly discusses our November Annual Show and has a link to many photos taken at the show. We discuss the fun-filled Christmas Party’s “Yankee Swap”, and we are introducing a brand-new feature called “Martha’s Corner”. This will provide an in-depth and full discussion of a Bonsai specimen that needs your care and attention on that particular month. In the case of January, the selection is “Bald Cypress”. There are at-length details from Martha’s “Tropical Green Sheets” ….everything you need to know. Each month we will highlight a different tree appropriate for the month. Then, Rick Owens has provided another of his “Tips and Tidbits” in which he goes into great detail describing the “Windswept Bonsai” style. Finally, there is a link to a 9 minute video about a Bald Cypress, taken at Wigert’s. Please note that we have added many additional links to this Newsletter to keep the main part concise and readable, but at the same time, give you the opportunity to dig in……..an appropriate Bonsai term!
This newsletter discusses preparations for our Annual Bonsai Show, a complete Schedule of Events, and an in-depth discussion of Display Layout. Also included are two forms…the 2024 Exhibit Tree Submission Form and the 2024 Judging Evaluation Form.
Attached is a fairly large newsletter that discusses our November Bonsai Show in detail. Rick Owens goes to great length to talk about display layout, how to design and build one, the stand, placement, and other elements of a successful display. There are many “clickable” links that go to various sources in greater detail….click on any print that is blue. The “Tree Submission Form” is included and can be easily printed. We hope to see all of you at our next meeting on Saturday, September 21st at 9AM.
