This is a recent video (Click here: https://youtu.be/VyqmO9pGu2M) made by Judith and Lia Andrews describing how to take a Ficus and transform it into Bonsai. This event happened with the help and expertise of Dorothy Schmitz and Ernie Fernandez. You are welcome to visit and learn from Dorothy and Ernie on the first Saturday of each month from 10-12 at their workshop at 3901 Bonita Beach Road in Bonita Springs, FL. Look for a sign that say’s “Ernie’s Sign Shop”. There is no charge. Bring your own tree if you have one, or Dorothy can work with something that she has. “It’s just for fun” Dororthy insists!

Martha Goff has put together a tentative Program Proposal for 2016 that describes the events for each meeting and the respective costs. Also described is the agenda for our next meeting on Saturday, January 16, 2016.
Our 2015 Annual Bonsai Show will be held on October 17 and 18 (Saturday and Sunday), and open to the public from 9AM to 5PM each day. We are excited to offer an extremely nice venue, the CITY PIER building at 1300 HENDRY ST., Fort Myers, FL 33901.
The building is very easy to find, it is just two blocks from downtown Fort Myers, and there is plenty of parking.
The CITY PIER building is directly on the Caloosahatchee River and has excellent lighting and visitor access.
We will have many Bonsai Masters showing their work, several world-known artists critiquing the trees, along
with demonstrations, vendors, and workshops open to the public.
Please join us for a great display of this Ancient Art.
Here is a description of the next meeting on Saturday, August 15, 2015. Included is Ed Trout’s “Critique Sheet” and “Judging Explanation” for this year’s Annual Bonsai Show. Also included is a document for those vendors who would like to participate.

Well, it is almost here, our summer Intensive Workshop! Come to the June, July and August meeting prepared to work. Bring your tools. Bring your trees. If you want help repotting, bring your soil. If you need wire, the club can provide it. If you draw, bring a sketch book and get help drawing your final design. Bring your camera so you can get a before and after picture. Bring your lunch or order pizza if you wish to stay longer. This is serious but fun, work.
This will be a perfect opportunity to get that tree in tip-top shape for the show in October. It will also be a great opportunity to get help with a difficult tree. No matter what level you are working at, this will give you a chance to improve your skills and your trees.
You should start with 2 trees, one potential show tree and one other. Each month you can add another tree but make sure the ones you first worked on come back each time.
As a special treat, Toby Diaz will join us for the Intensive in July. He will be there to critique and offer help to all who are participating in the Intensive Workshop. So, if you want the benefit of Toby, make sure you participate in June to be eligible for July.
We will also be having a display for each meeting to get back into displaying our trees before the show. I will contact you ahead of time to bring a display.
