Hal Mahoney Visit March 21, 2015

Hal Mahoney has been practicing the art of Bonsai for more than 35 years. He first gained an appreciation for Asian culture while spending a year and a half in Japan and Korea. Besides classical Bonsai, Hal specializes in Chinese Rock Penjing and his own “claft” (clump/raft) style forest plantings. In addition to cultivating his own collection, Hal promotes Bonsai through lectures and workshops throughout the United States. His thoroughly prepared presentations reflect his many years of professional teaching experience, during which he introduced Bonsai into a New York State high school science curriculum as a credit earning course. Hal currently resides in Long Island, New York.
